Nobody cries for attention. Crying is a call for help, a voice of broken heart

IWill blogs

Why do you keep crying? Do you do this for attention?

She is so negative. She is always sad and upset.

She cries to manipulate you.

She is always sitting alone, not wanting to talk to anyone, you have married such a difficult person.

I said only not to laugh or dance here. What did I say that she started crying?

Have you heard people blaming a person who is crying a lot?

Have you seen someone's tears being made to look like they are to manipulate and get ahead with your way ?

Have you witnessed a person with depression being attacked for being lazy, or being drama or attention seeking.

Sad part is most of us would say yes.

But the reality is no one can cry for attention. No one cries to manipulate.

Crying happens because a person feels so helpless and sad they feel overwhelmed.

Crying is a call for help, call for healing and comfort.

A person pulls back from social situations because they are drained, they avoid because they don't know how they would be treated or they don't just have the energy due to all the pain.

A person cries because they feel helpless.

A person cries because they feel attacked, not because they wish to manipulate.

Inconsolable crying spells are many times sign of depression.

No one chooses to be depressed.

Many people come in therapy at IWill because they feel lonely, totally helpless and also further attacked for their pain, which is the worst.

Rather than changing things around them, they blame the person further and isolate them further.

In therapy for depression, we also invite loved ones for online session, atleast a few at times because we want them to know that empathy is needed, that they need to not isolate their loved one. That they need to leave the judgement aside and help in healing.

Crying is not a sign of weakness or attention.

Loneliness is not chosen.

Let's build empathy, let's not drown our loved ones in sadness and in hurt.
